Gillian Leigh Anderson
was born on August 9th 1968 in the St.Mary's Hospital, Cook Count in Chicago. She was the first child of Edward and Rosemary Anderson. After having lived in Puerto Rico for a couple of years, they moved to Great Britain in 1970. On the age of 5, Gillian went to the Colderidge Junior School in Crouch End ( northern London). In 1979 the family returned to the US ( Grand Rapids, Michigan) and after having finished elementary school there, she went to Michigan's City High school. After a while she went to study in London. In 1981 her sister Zoe was born, and in 1984 her brother Aaron. In that period Gillian transformed into a real punker. |

After that period, Gillian started acting.When she graduated in 1986, she moved to Chicago and went to the Goodman Theater School of the DePaul University, and there she got the diploma of "Bachelor of fine arts". She also finished a summer-program in the "National Theater of Great Britain" in the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
After getting her diploma, she moved to New York. From then on, the acting really started. For her role in the off-broadway production "Absent Friends", she won a "Theater World Award" in 1991.
Gillian also appeared in "The Philanthropist" and in the "Long Warf Theater" in New Haven, Connecticut. After that, she moved to Los Angeles, did auditions for several roles, but mostely without result.
She played a small role in the movie "The Turning" (1992), and after that, she had an audition for -what would become- the cult series "the x-files". First it seemed that the people of FOX wanted to make "the xxx-files" of it, but creator Chris Carter chose her to play the role of the sceptical FBI-agent Dana Scully. Gillian moved to Vancouver, Canada. On the set of "the x-files", she met Clyde Klotz, 4 months later they married on a vacation on Hawai(1993) , and on September 25th 1994, she gave birth to her only daughter Piper Maru.In 1996, Gillian and Clyde were divorced.
Last couple of years, Gillian became an extremely popular actress; she won a lot of awards, appeared in a lot of tv-shows, and has a huge amount of sites on the internet.
